I too have cingular and was having the same problems (two messages per email). With the T720 can you check other email accounts? I have a Nokia N-Gage QD, and I can check my personal account with it. Since my phone can also play WAV files, I can play the voicemail from the email on my cell phone. The only problem with that is that you will not know if you get a voicemail unless you check your email every once in a while on your cell.

As far am SMS meeages, what would be even MORE cool than just the SMS, is also give an option for a MultiMedia message (MMS message I think). This way you can get all that info AS WELL AS the voicemail it self. Just a thought Smile

I'm just trying to keep this thing simple and clean ya know?

I have no desire to check my e-mail from my phone right now, I assume I might be able to set up my T720 to do that, but I just want the basic SMS message.

SMS would be the most easy, but I do think that MMS messages would also be a really cool selling point.

Please let us know what cell provider you have, once we have that information we can help get you configured to receive VM notification on your cell.

Your phone must be capable of receiving text messages (most are).
You may be charged for receiving text messages.
Unless you want to get fancy you will only be able to get VM notification to an email account or to your mobile phone, not both.

scerruti,

Still would prefer to get a SMS text message to my phone instead of an e-mail!

Any chance of that happening?

I am not with Vonage so I can't answer the question I think you're asking.

I have been toying with the idea of setting something like this up as a third party service, but I am not sure how I could offer SMS without a charge.

I too have this issue of two messages for one call on Cingular. When I had Verizon I always got one message.

Vonage - can you create a smaller text message for email notification like the previous poster suggested, ie,

<Caller Name> called at <time> on <date> from <phone number> and left a <message length> second message.

I don't understand why Verizon keeps it as one message and Cingular makes it two. For Verizon I sent the nofication to 9175551212@vtext.com and for Cingular it's 6465551212@mobile.mycingular.com

If anybody knows how to make this one message, please post.

Regards,
MW
