Hi all, I've been trying all day to get my UTStarCom F3000 working with my Vonage softphone account. The phone never registers. I can successfully connect with the Vonage softphone so I assume my firewall is not the issue. I did a factory reset on the phone before configuring. The SIP configuration from the web interface is:
SIP Terminal Use Outbound Proxy: Yes
SIP Terminal Use Register: Yes
SIP Profile Name: 12125551212
SIP Proxy Domain Name: sphone.vopr.vonage.net
SIP Proxy IP Address: 0.0.0.0
SIP Proxy Port: 5061
SIP Register Domain Name: sphone.vopr.vonage.net
SIP Register IP Address: 0.0.0.0
SIP Register Port: 5061
SIP Authentication String: 12125551212
SIP Terminal User Name: 12125551212
SIP Terminal Password: ********
SIP Terminal Port: 5061
SIP Terminal Use Null Packet: No
SIP Terminal Use DNS: Both Register and SIP proxy use DNS
The only other setting I've changed (besides the wireless) is the Display Name = 12125551212. Everything else is default. I've triple checked my phone number and password. I'm using firmware 5.91tt. Any suggestions on what needs to be changed? |

Nevermind, I found the problem. The settings work. The phone was not getting the DNS servers from DHCP. Don't know why, everything else does. Once I manually entered the DNS servers, the phone registered and I could make and receive calls. |

I thought that Vonage only worked with Vonage-branded F1000. Please clarify if this is true. If the F3000 works with Vonage, where can I purchase the phone, and how easy is it to configure?
Thanks. |

The F3000 works well with a Vonage soft phone account. On that account, you get the details that you need to configure the phone so you can use it. The F3000 will not work with a Vonage primary account, since Vonage does not give you the information that you need to set it up.
The phone is fairly easy to configure - you can find the configuration here (same configuration as unlocked/UTStarcom branded F1000), or at the UTStarcom forum.
You can buy the F3000 at voipsupply.com as well as other places on line. I don't think that anybody sells WiFi phones in retail stores. |

tmoney - I had the phone special ordered from one of my vendors (to use up a credit) but you can get them online. The settings in my first post are all I needed to configure. There is a web interface on the phone that makes it much easer to setup. |
