Hi all -
New to Vonage for about six weeks now. When I first installed the PAP2 adapter the LEDs flashed constantly followed by losing connection to the adapter. Upgraded the firmware for my Linksys BEFSR41 and attained steady lights on the PAP2 and no rebooting for about 2 weeks. Late last month the LED flashing and constant rebooting started again. It seems to occur over night. I've also been experiencing lost audio for about 10 secs. inbound and outbound during calls the entire time. My husband is becoming increasingly testy regarding this issue

How do I resolve these issues? |

What's the version of the firmware for your Vonage device? |

From your initial description, it sounds like a firmware issue with the PAP2 if it's constantly flashing and rebooting. Have you tried doing a hard reset on the device? Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds. Do you know if firmware version 1.00.22 is the latest? Have you tried removing your router from your setup and connecting the PAP2 directly to your dsl modem to see if the problem persists? |

Not sure of the latest firmware version. Will call CS. From my limited experimantation plugging the adapter directly into the modem appears to solve both problems however there is only one ethernet port on the modem which means I will not be able to connect to the internet, correct? |

Sorry to say, but I believe you're correct...with the router removed, you don't have another ethernet switch. Notice to see if the PAP2 starts flashing and rebooting itself again. If it doesn't, it very well could be that the router was causing the issue and it's time for a new one. Have you had issues with the router prior to Vonage? |

The router is new to the entire setup as well. Just out of curiosity this morning I pick up the phone to see what it would say with the LEDs flashing. The message said, "this phone is not registered on the Vonage network". Not sure if that is relevant to the problem. Why would the router be causing this problem. Any suggestions for a replacement or a different setup? |

Exactly which LED(s) is constantly flashing and did you add the router back to your setup when you noticed the constant flashing? When you removed the router, were you able to make and receive calls without issues? You should not be receiving that message if the PAP2 is functioning correctly. |

It occurred to me that I might be explaining my problem badly. Every morning all I have is a steady power light, internet light is flashing and telephone phone light is out completely. I reboot and leave for the day. If I happen to call home my call goes straight to VM alerting me that the adapter has gone down again. I return home, reboot the whole set up and everything is great until the following morning with the exception of some lost audio at regular intervals during a call. Its as if the adapter is losing power over night, every night. Tonight I will try another wall outlet maybe I have a short in the outlet. |

The power led should always be solid (blue), the ethernet led should always be solid, the internet led will blink constantly which is normal. If the phone led is out completely that is NOT normal, it too should always be solid. The only time you "should" see all the led's blinking, is when the device is receiving a firmware update.
It is not normal for you to have to constantly reboot your network for your phone service to work. Check with Vonage to see if there has been a new firmware release for your device that's causing your phone to constantly go out. If it's not a firmware issue, it sounds more and more like the device itself is defective.
BTW, when your PAP2 goes down, are you still able to surf the internet? |
