I've had vonage for about 5 months now, and until recently have had no problems accessing my favorite P2P programs (Shareaza, etc.)
About a week ago, I started having problems with linking up to the P2P's...I keep getting the same message about being behind a NAT router or firewall. I've checked my computer and turned off every firewall (2) I could locate. I still get the same message.
What to do?? I'm not really familiar with what a router really even is...could my Vonage device be the sudden culprit? Is it a router? If so, how does one configure it to work with programs like Shareaza?
Any assistance is appreciated. |

What Vonage device do you have? Did you make any changes to your network set up? Explain how your network is set up. Some setting within the program (Shareaza) itself or your network has changed if all of a sudden you're unable to connect. Possibly, it may be the Shareaza servers that are down and that's why you are unable to connect. |

Well, the Vonage device is a Motorola VT-2142VD, if that helps.
I don't believe any changes were made re: the network setup. I've got cable broadband, all firewalls are disabled...I don't know exactly how to explain the network setup...any specific questions I could answer to help you out?
Shareaza is functioning somewhat, I'm getting some connections, but not the kind I'm used to. A search that yielded over 300 results a week ago is now yielding 24.
I'm just so stumped because I haven't made a change to my computer's settings, Vonage, my internet, or Shareaza...but yet I've got all of these problems now.
Thev only thing I can possibly imagine is, Microsoft installed something with those "live updates" they send out frequently that tampered with a setting. My videocard wasn't functioning all of a sudden around the same time (couldn't do screen caps, etc.) but I traced that back to an update...once I removed that update, my videocard worked fine again. |

I doubt if the Microsoft updates have anything to do with your P2P file sharing program. The fact that you stated Shareaza is functioning somewhat with your search results would lead me to believe it's more of an issue related to the Shareaza servers or the program itself and not related to your Vonage device.
I did a google search for "Shareaza forum" and came up with the following link. See the threads "problem connecting" and "Can't connect at all."

A few simple troubleshooting steps can help narrow down your problem.
1) If possible, directly connect your computer to your cable modem. If P2P is now working fine the problem is your router or Vonage adaptor (go to step 2). If P2P doesn't work, the problem is with your computer or our Internet provider.
2) Reconnect your Vonage adaptor to your cable modem and connect your computer to the Vonage adaptor (leaving the router out of the picture). If P2P works, you have a Router problem (go to step 3). If it doesn't work, the Vonage adaptor is the problem.
Hope this helps. |

Blackjack,
Everything works fine until I get to the page after entering my router ip into the address bar of the browser. It takes me to a Motorola page, but hen I enter the admin/admin username/password, it gives me a "Bad username/password" error
I'm stuck!! |
