Are you using a cordless phone? If so, is it 2.4 Ghz? Are you using wireless networking for any of your PCs? Is your telephone conected directly to the PAP2 or are you connected via house wiring?

Yes, I'm using a Uniden Powermax 2.4Ghz cordless phone with 2 satellites. I have a couple of laptops in the house using 802.11b.
This problem is about 4 days old, and there have been no configuration changes/new hardware in the house for months. The main phone is connected directly to the PAP2

Packet loss: server --> you: 100.0 %...That's your problem. Run the test again and see what happens.

Looks like the same thing. So either my PAP is messed up, or I can be a conspiracy theorist and say that Comcast is blocking my Vonage traffic so that I'll buy Comcast Digital Voice?

I ended up resetting my disabling and re-enabling my router's firewall, then re-added my PAP to the firewall's DMZ. Looks like I should be all set now. I'll make some calls to be sure.
Thanks alot for the help and the great test sites.

Turn off all your wireless networking stuff (laptops and AP or Router)and see if the problem goes away. It is very common to have interaction issues with 802.11b and 2.4 Ghz codrless phones as they use the same frequency band.

The other alternative is to plug in a corded phone directly to the PAP2.

Either way I think it's an inter-action issue between your cordless phone and wireless internet connections.

If the problem was related to the 2.4 Ghz phone and the 802.11b devices, don't you find it strange that he's been using it successfully for months?

I don't find this surprising at all. All that has to happn is either the phone or the 802.11b router to change to a channel that conflicts with the other. He could have resynched the channels by mistake on his phone. I work for a networking company and develop wireless networking prodcts.
