Try to notice when your adapter reboots itself, does your IP change? from this post on, anyone who has this problem reply with

Modem Make/Model: Motorola sb4100
Network configuration: Motorola sb4100>RT31P2>3 computers 1 phone.
How do you have your phones connected: 1 phone in port 1
Did you try other configurations: Such as? I just used the default setup.
Does your public IP change: no

I think the router is faulty as I have never had this problem before and the only thing that has changed is this router. What would cause the router to reset by itself?

sorry, also add how long you';ve had the problem for, always, since 2 weeks ago, intermittently, etc, im going to try to put together some kind of database and see if i can track down a pattern and bring it up if its a systematic issue. it can most liklely be a faulty router as that can happen, also if you reply to this thread with the info, simply PM me with your account/phone number for documentation purposes.

A few of you have pm'ed me for other things, I wasn't in work today but i'll try my best to get to em tomorrow. night guys

the problem has been intermittant since the beginning. As I said I will be in the middle of a conversation and the router will reset itself.

Modem Make/Model: Dlink DCM 202/ Motorola SB 4100 (I have tried both, It does this with either modem)
Network configuration: Dlink DCM 202/ Motorola SB 4100>WRT54GP2>1 computer ON LAN port 1 1 phone on Phone port one.
How do you have your phones connected: 1 phone in port 1
Did you try other configurations: Such as? I just used the default setup. When I remove the WRT54GP2 and go directly to the modem it doesn't happen.
Does your public IP change: no
Firmware Version 1.28.00/Voice Version 2.0.13 (LIVd)
It will disco randomly. Sometimes only once a day and sometime 5 times an hr. No ryhme or reason. Network load is nill. And when it disconnects, so do the conversations.
This has been going on since day one. Feb 2005

Mine does the same thing.

Modem: Motorola SB4100
ISP: Comcast
Linksys RT31P2 -- 2 phones -- 3 computers
After about an hour it will reboot ..

This probably does not look good considering I am an employee and having the same problems.

How do you have your phones connected: Connected to spliter from Phone port 1. One line goes to a phone, the other goes to the wall jack to spread signal to other jacks.

Did you try other configurations:Yes, DPC2100>SofaWare CheckPoint S-Box Router>RT31P2>3 computers. (problem still occured)

Does your public IP change: Very rarely.

Firmware Version: 1.28.00
Voice Version: 2.0.13(LIVd)
Customization: Customized

This has occured ever since I had service (Nov 04), although now it is less frequent, about two or three times a week.

I don't know if mine reboots or not, but I have been having another problem. I've been with Vonage for a couple years now and used to have the Cisco ATA. I never had any problems with the Cisco ATA until February of this year. I called Vonage and after some troubleshooting the tech decided that my ATA need to be replaced. Vonage sent me the RT31P2 to replace it. It seems to be working OK for the most part, but last month one day I lost the ability to receive incoming calls. I could call out with no problem, but if someone tried to call me it would go to my cell phone (I have Network Availability Number setup to go to my cell phone if my connection is down). I powered down the RT31P2 for about 60 seconds, powered it back on, and then everything was working normally again. There were no problems with my internet connection or my network that I'm aware of, and I didn't have to reboot/reset/power cycle anything other than the RT31P2. The same thing happened again this month (almost exactly a month after the first time). Power cycling the RT31P2 fixed the problem again. I hope this doesn't become a monthly thing every month. I'm not at home right at the moment, but I'm pretty sure the RT31P2 has the latest 1.28 firmware.

ISP: Time Warner/Road Runner
Modem: Motorola SB5100
Network: SB5100 > D-Link DGL-4300 > RT31P2 (nothing connected to LAN ports of RT31P2)
Phones: 1 phone connected to port 2 (During troubleshooting of the Cisco ATA, the tech changed me from port 1 to port 2 to see if it made any difference. It didn't, and when the RT31P2 arrived it was set on port 2 as well.)
No other config tried
Public IP changes very rarely/almost never
Seems to be happening once a month since I got the RT31P2

Modem Make/Model: efficient 5100b (sometimes test with westell 510)
Network configuration: modem -> RT31P2 -> internal network (usual way of course)
How do you have your phones connected: 1 cordless on line 1 (made clear so you know it's not taking power from the box)
Did you try other configurations: See below
Does your public IP change: IP changes when one reconnects, no maximum time on these (at least as far as I can tell)..

Now, the thing goes that the router that came initially had a similar problem, it'd disconnect daily, usually you'd have to go to the web interface to get it to right itself, by clicking the PPPoE disconnect button in the router status screen.. which would then make the router stop responding for a moment, and then suddenly all would be well.

After replacement, I set up the new router (an E model as has been said), and that worked great for the past 2-3 weeks I've had it UNTIL yesterday, there hasn't been a single configuration change here or change in usage, so I can't think of a single explanation for it, and of course these connection screwups never happen in any other configuration not including the router *sigh*.

Anyway, I had a disconnect about 30 minutes ago, and the same thing a day ago, it's ironic that these seem to happen at almost the same time (last time was at 2am, it's currently almost 12am).. funny stuff
