I just got my phone number transfered to Vonage, actually only took about 2 weeks with SBC, but now when I call people who have caller ID, the name that shows up is "Vonage Holdings" as opposed to my name. Is this normal? I know my virtual number hasn't been canceled yet, so will my name start appearing on the caller ID after that number has been disconnected? Or is there something else I need to do?

Call Vonage Tech Support. I'm sure our Engineers can fix that.

have tried twice first time the guy was really nice and the second they told me that I had to try and call local carrier to fix it myself. So I gave up for awhile and then I will hope for a better cust. service rep. Anything you can do?

thanks

After reading the response that this issue was able to be corrected, I called tech support and had the "Vonage Holdings Inc" removed as my caller ID info. The problem I have now is that they changed it to show "Unknown". So, I called back and asked them to change it to my name. The guy told me that Vonage does not support Caller ID names. Now how in the hell does this make sense? I asked why is it you can program it to send "Vonage Holdings Inc", but you can't program it to send my name? Did I get someone that doesn't know what they are doing or did he just not want to go that "extra mile" for the paying customer?[/b]

Vonage doesn't "send" anything for a CallerID name. Check out this post in another forum for a very good explanation about how CallerID Name information is provided:
