Does anyone know when Microsoft will be releasing a patch for Windows Vista which will enable the V-Phone to work correctly with it?
Is there an email address which I can send a message to Microsoft to put some pressure on them to get this sorted? If there is, perhaps it would be an idea to post it on this site so that all V-Phone users can send a message to them - this might help to get the point across. |

I am not sure about the patch, but have you tried Vonage talk yet? You can make calls to any North American number and you might be able to receive calls also, some can and some can't. |

Thanks for the reply. Afraid I can only use the v-phone due to restricted connections to internet (shared accomodation and routers not allowed on system). Just got an ethernet socket on the wall to plug PC into and only 1 MAC address allowed. |

If you can use the V-Phone on your computer then you can use Vonage Talk. you download the application on your computer and use a headset and dial any North American number you want. Vonage Talk is almost the same application that comes with V-phone.
Here is a temporary workaround to get the V-phone working with windows vista (until Microsoft releases a patch for it).
Go to the removable storage partition of the vphone and right-click to create a shortcut.
you want to rename it VonageTalk, and the path should be [drive letter:/vonage/vonagetalk.exe]
then right-click on the shortcut and go to properties and then compatibility. You want to run in compatibility mode for WinXP SP2, and select run as administrator.
Then click back on general tab and check read-only. Click ok and your done.
Enjoy!

Just to let you know that i am in the uk and only want to dial uk landline numbers. On the UK website it doesn't seem to mention about the product you suggest. I'm happy with the v-phone - just want it to work with my Vista laptop. Regarding the temporary fix; I have done this but it iw a bit of a pain having to change the settings each time the v-phone is plugged into the USB so I'd rather not do that. Thanks anyway and hopefully I might hear from you when the Vista update patch becomes available. |

Sorry didn't know I was in the U.K Forum. Vonage Talk doesn't work for U.K Customers (I don't think it does anyway). Works for calling North American Numbers from North American Accounts.
I get the RSS feed of this. |
