That was the info I got back from the tech today. I told him to let me know when the new ones are in. I will post once I am notified they are sending the new one and what results I get with the new batch.

It does seem like good news that linksys, #1 has reproduced the problem and #2 is doing something to produce units without this noise

oh ok, I'm a little confused. by "new hardware" I read new product/device. but apparently you meant reconfigured RT31P2's.

Either way, I hope Vonage orders a pile of them. When word gets around a new revision of the adapter is available that reduces noise, everyone will "have to have it" even if they feel their line is quiet enough as-is.

Smile Smile Thanks to cookem for passing on the info about connecting a off hook telephone to the second phone port on the Linksys adapter..this substantially reduced the high frequency background noise for me..I guess this is a good fix until I need to have a second phone number or Linksys comes out with a fix. I've read that Vonage will replace the Linksys..but with what?? I just received my adapter 4 days ago. Thanks again Cookem!

The off-hook phone in the phone2 outlet cleaned up the noise problem I was having with a Linksys PAP2 adapter. Thanks for passing along the tip cookem.

Was just on the phone w/Vonage support and the rep was pretty sharp on the Linksys issues. I asked him about the background noise, he asked what it sounded like and I told him a wooshing/windy sound. He said that issue is well-known and caused by a bad transistor, and they have replacement units available with the new transistor set.

I have a replacment on order, so I'll know in a few days if the magic bullet has been found.

Received my linksys on 1/10 as part of a new account setup and experienced the annoying white noise problem right out of the box. After many long and difficult attemtps at contacting support, including unanswered emails, I finally got through today. The tech was very familiar with the problem and stated the problem is with the linksys and wanted me to use the off-hook method on the second line port to help quiet port 1.

It was clear they had no idea on an ETA for a fix and only had the same linksys routers to send as replacements, most likely with the same problem. They made it very clear they have no other models available.

I tried to extend my evaluation period until this issue was solved and they would not, which left me little choice but to cancel my service and receive a refund while I still could.

Cust service said they would send a email when the problem was solved in case I wanted to try the service again.

Folks, The achieves indicate this problem has been around for a couple of months and it doesn't look like there is a fix anywhere in the near future.

Not worth the hassle in my book. I'll check back when it's solved
