I am using SMC wireless router and 2.4GHz cordless telephone with Vonage system. Last couple of days calls are getting disconnected quite often. Down load and upload speeds are checked -I am using Rogers Express- and very satisfactory. Any body has similar problems.Any suggessions. Thanks, Bala |

For the past day or so we've had several calls drop in the middle of a conversation. The drops seem to coincide with opening/connecting to AOL.
Today, as my wife was getting onto AOL, I was unable to make a call. I had a dialtone, but dialing numbers did nothing (I tried two different numbers). Thent eh dialtone went away. But once she was connected to AOL, i was able to call and order that pizza I wanted for dinner.
We've got a wireless D-link G Router (WBR-1310), and a wireless-G USB adpter connected to the computer. We don't seem to have this problem with our MacBook (also wireless, but not running AOL). |

The 2.4 Ghz wireless network connection is probably interfering with your 2.4 Ghz cordeless phone. Try a corded phone and see if you can use the Internet without interference. If so, buy a DECT or 5.8 Ghz phone. |

Hey,
So I think I'm having a similar problem...
I've had cable internet/vonage for about a month so far, and it's pretty much been a nightmare. A lot of the issues have been with the cable (Comcast), but after my fourth (or was it fifth?) visit from a tech in the last month, I think my interent is finally functioning properly. However, my phone calls STILL keep getting dropped, or at least I think that's what's happening. After talking for about 10 or 15 minutes my voice breaks (up or disappears completely), but I can still hear the other person fine. If I call back a minute or two later then it's fine again... for a while.
Anyone have any ideas?
Tech specs: Modem: Motorola SB5120 (surfboard) supplied by Comcast. Router: Netgear MR814v2 Vonage thing: Motorola VT2142-VD Phone: GE 900MHz cordless phone. Cable signal:
Downstream Frequency 561000000 Hz Signal to Noise Ratio 35 dB QAM QAM256 Network Access Control Object ON Power Level 3 dBmV
Upstream Channel ID 5 Frequency 34992000 Hz Ranging Service ID 1921 Symbol Rate 2.560 Msym/s Power Level 39 dBmV
Thanks in advance! |

I too have been having the same problem with my Vonage service. I've got DSL and a Motorola vt2542! I keep getting the phone ringing and then nothing on the other end! Then when I restart the Vonage device I loose the config on it and have to reprogram all my PPoE settings. It's ticking me off! I think I'm going to have to leave Vonage if this keeps up!

Why are you guys posting issues with your Vonage service in this forum? This forum is for issues with the site itself i.e. dead links or problems with the Voip speed test to name a few. You would be better served if you posted your issues in the Voip forum.
Duartej, it's a known issue with the VT2542 if you reboot the device it resets to factory defaults. |
