I have read many different versions and opinions on using multiple lines. I will have 4 computers, 3 phone lines 9(going to 4 phones), and 1 Fax line. But I have a few questions:
1-If i were to have all lines and computers going at one time, how much bandwidth is needed(download/upload)?
2- Can I use standard 4 line phones for this setup?
I am going to make up a diagram in a few minutes and post. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Here is the diagram I made up. The box in the top right is just a jeunction box, so that I can send 3 lines to every phone.

You need about 90 kb/s up and down for each phone line, plus whatever the computers need for the jobs at hand.

Yes, provided you hook things up properly. It means getting the output from each Vonage unit and somehow connecting it to the proper pair in your junction box. This isn't hard, but obviously it needs to be done right.

You didn't ask, but for a business application I wouldn't commit everything to Vonage right away. I would recommend getting one Vonage line and trying it for awhile. If it meets your expectations, you can go ahead and take the full plunge. Keep in mind that a failure of your internet service for any reason kills all your Voip lines. |

Thanks again!!!! |

If it's DSL on a phone line, it's possible to lose the internet without losing the phone as well if the server at your ISP goes down. I'm on cable and I sometimes lose internet without losing cable television. Same thing. |
