Perhaps, but I am skeptical that it will work in certain cases.
I have Comcast, and when I am using file sharing apps, even with the up bandwidth very low (10 KBs out of 50+KBs possible), and no download traffic at all, I still get very large "jitter" (based on Voip speed tests). It appears to me that Comcast (whether intentionally, or not) is doing something that causes jitter (resulting in choppy conversations) when even a moderate amount of up bandwidth is used (for P2P?).
Unless this device works in some way that I can not imagine, it would not help me. |

If your internet connection is crappy, no it will not fix that...If you know you have excessive jitter with your isp you should contact them to correct the issue. If you have a good internet connection and want to use P2P file sharing while conversating, the HBB1 manages your network so that the most time sensitive information receives the highest priority when it comes to available bandwidth. |

Very true, but what I wanted to point out was that my connection is not inherently crappy, it only becomes so when I am uploading even at a relatively low speed (even using FTP). To the casual user, it might appear that they have a bandwidth problem, when really they have a some strange behavior at their ISP.
Users (especially on Comcast) should check for this before they go out and spend money on a piece of hardware that will not help in that case. |

Sorry about that, I was using the term "your" internet connection generically and not necessarily meaning you. With my previous Vonage device, a WRTP54G, if I was on the phone and uploading files at the same time my call quality was less than desirable. When I added the HBB1, there was no longer an issue with downloading and or uploading files while using my Vonage line. Now that I have the Motorola VT2542, I no longer need the HBB1 because the VT2542 automatically gives voice conversation priority over file sharing. And BTW, I also use Comcast. |
