A great product by
Vonage
for sure, I would install it again. I think
Vonage
Talk gives you the option when you install it to start at start up.
Instead of using msconfig you should use a free program called EasyCleaner.

Most software that I do not plan on using ALL THE TIME, I chose not to start at "start up" (such as microsofts folder share, etc.), though I do not think that is his problem.
A nice program for sure . . .and with a headset (not you PC mic and speakers) has good quality . . .even seems to work on a poor connection such as my verizon air card, though not extensively tested.

Too bad, as I think this
Vonage
feature/product is a big plus for being a
Vonage
customer.
I am sitting on my boat where I do a lot of my work from, just talked to my son on his comcast
Voip
in California, my bluetooth hands free . . .worked like a charm.
It is, if you're in love with
Vonage
. In 2005 I was. Over the last few years, though, I've seen the price of the product go up, I've seen no improvement in customer service or technical support, and I've seen the quality of competitors go up while their prices go down.
So I'm slowly evaluating just what value I am getting from
Vonage
. Considering I rarely use over 300 minutes a month, even the 500-minute plan for $14.95/mo is starting to look expensive when you have several options featuring flat rates of 1.9 cents/min ... that would make my phone bill $6/mo, and with easy SIP support I can use either a dedicated box or a software client at the same time.
The main reason I stay with
Vonage
, is because the price is very affordable (especially compared to the now reformed territories of AT&T) and the call reliability has been outstanding.

On a lark, I completely uninstalled it earlier and I've since rebooted. I installed it again, fired it up, and now it crashes without warning before I even get the login screen.
I realize that it's still alpha software, but this might possibly be the worst release of a software product I've encountered in my 20 years of using computers. Woefully disappointed.

What operating system are you using? Are you using version o.9.2?
On the other forum, there are lots of people using this, and I don't recall anyone having this issue.
Have you called tech support on this? I know you are going to say ya right what support.
The only problem I had with this program was I couldn't receive calls, but that is now fixed.

Windows XP, and whatever version is being offered on the
Vonage
Talk website. Again, it would be nice to know if the application didn't crash immediately upon startup.
No, I'm not going to contact support about this, because I honestly shouldn't have to, nor do I have the time to invest in it. There is nothing unusual about my computer set-up, I can understand little bugs here and there that prevent things from working, but when it won't even log in, let alone recognize your log-in credentials, it tells me that this application is just not ready. Other people can be the guinea pigs if they wish, I feel like I've already wasted too much time on it. Maybe if it goes 1.0 I'll check it out again.

The issues you are experiencing are indeed unique. As to why the application is crashing at startup I don't know but it is unfortunate. There maybe another program on your system that's conflicting with
Vonage
Talk, the initial install didn't go well or when you first attempted to login to the
Vonage
Talk server it got screwed up some how. Many users are successfully using this Alpha product, myself included.

Post subject: Vonage Talk Updated again
Well V-Talk is now called
Vonage
Talk and it has been updated again, h
Vonage
Talk release 0.9.3 is out.
You will be prompted for
Vonage
Talk update on the next sign-in.
Here are the fixes:
1) Fixed receiving calls on
Vonage
Talk.
2) Enhanced keypad to accept entries from keyboard.
3) Fixed double ringing in case of early media. This would fix problems like:
a) Double ring when using
Vonage
Talk to call certain non-Vonage numbers.
b)
Vonage
Talk keeps ringing for certain numbers even if the call is answered.
4) Added ability to check voice mail by dialing *123.
Calling the free international numbers is also in the works.
If you don't have
Vonage
Talk here once again is the line:
www.alpha.vonage.com
Still in the alpha stage, but works great!

Post subject: Still isn't fixed
You still cannot store contacts, and the web based fax still doesn't work.
The correct link is
http://alpha.vonage.com/
Vonage
Fax still does not work.

What does
Vonage
Fax have to do with
Vonage
Talk? They are two seperate programs. Adding contacts does work now with
Vonage
Talk...You have to sign in to your IM account first. If you are adding a contact(s) before signing in, the contact is actually saved it's just not displayed.
