Possible Solution to Fax Problem

I have had Vonage for 2 1/2 years as my business phone service. The phone has worked fine. The fax line has been frustrating.

I have had two fax machines, a Sharp FO-4700 and a Sharp FO-5500. Both are professional fax machines. Anytime we faxed a multiple page document, it would take two or three times for the entire fax to be transmitted. I tried the 99*, turned off ECM, etc. Nothing worked.

Yesterday, while talking with Vonage support, I came up with the idea of moving the phone adapter to the DMZ port on the firewall. It seemed to have fixed the problem.

I am looking for a new fax machine because my cheapie Brother FAX-575 is frustrating the hell out of me. The fax machine will send OK if I turn on "Overseas" mode, BUT , I have to set this each and every time I try to fax something. I want to make this a permanent selection but I can't with this particular machine. I have also had some problems with page feed errors as well. Anyone have any suggestions on a not-too-expensive fax machine that can will work well with Vonage? I think it turns off the error correction and uses caps the output speed at one of the lowest settings. I don't want to spend a fortune on a fax machine, as I don't use it often enough to justify an expensive model. It is just nice to have a fax machine around for occasional use. I was needing to send 20 pages and it kept taking 2-3 pages at a time! Evil or Very Mad
