I have had Vonage for about 4 years now and I love it, however ; I recently got attuverse. ATT uses a different router (they call a residential gateway) to control wireless internet and cable. I can hook my Vonage adapter to this router and the phone works fine, however it messes up all the internet settings on the computers. My question is can I hook up my Vonage adapter directly to my computer or is there a wireless adapter I can buy for it. |

Please provide us with what the exact make and model of the devices you are using in your setup. Also, please explain what you mean by "messes up all the internet settings...", what exactly does it do? Are you seeing IP conflicts, some other error, or does the internet just not work?
While you can hook the router up to just your computer, and you can get a "wireless adapter"(called a wireless bridge) for the Vonage apapter neither is really recommended. These are somewhat complex setups and can fail at many points. With Voip the simpler the setup the better. The ideal setup for Vonage is normally Modem -> Vonage -> Computer. This should be possible with almost all Vonage router(with the exception of the PAP2 and VTA which don't have LAN ports) and all ATT modems but the exact model info will allow us to tell you exactly what you need to do to get everything working. |

The ATT Equip is not a regular store bought router it is a
2WIRE (NAME ON THE FRONT) RESIDENTIAL GATEWAY
WI-FI 802.11G
IT HAS THE FOLLOWING
COAX CONNECTION FOR CABLE LINE USB CONNECTION 4 LOCAL ETHERNET PORTS 1 BROADBAND ETHERNET PORT PHONE LINE (VDSL CONNECTOR)
This hooks into the cable box which runs all computers via wireless not sure the actual model of the Vonage box but is motorola vt something I got it directly from Vonage about 3 years ago when I hook up the motorola box to the back of the local ethernet port the phone works great but all the computers lose internet connection and they cant aquire the network address It seems that the motorola box scrables the IP address or something not sure I have a ATT tech coming out on saturday so hopfully they can help. |
