unplug everything (from AC power) for 30 seconds to a minute.
1-connect modem to VT2442 LAN port. 2- power up SB5120 -wait for all lights. 3-plus computer into a port of the VT2442 - no wifi (for now) 4-plug telephone into phone1 5-Plug Belkin into a port of the VT2442.
Possible causes. - Bad VT2442 - Issue with SB5120 - something with Belkin but this one is unlikely.
Run testmyvoip.com but with computer plugged in to VT2442 - no wifi and post results.
Than VT2442 reburb is the likely cause. |

Vonage is terrible. I urge anyone to stay way from it.
I just called their tech support, the lady said it would be fixed in another 24 hours. I demanded to talk with her supervisor so I could talk with someone to solve it immediately since they had blank promise time from time since last thursday. She said she was going to transfer to her supervisor and immediately placed me on the tech support queue.
I was so disapointed that I want to return the package, but they want me to pay the shipping for both in and out. I have wasted more than 20 hours on this, and now I have to pay it? What is that? |

Hi bg4. I just did the procedure you suggested. It is the same. I run the test to call San Jose (I am around Los Angeles area), came back with a score 2.9.
The problem is no longer I am NOT able to place any outgoing calls. The problem now is that I was NOT able to access my voice mail from the Vonage line. If I dial *123, it asks me for password, however it does not recognize anything I have keyed in. It thinks I am not pressing any keys. |

They say right in the advertisement that they don't refund the shipping charges.
The friend who referred you, do they live near by? If they do, I suggest they bring their adapter to your place or you take yours to them.
Usually hooking up a Vonage is a 5 minute task at the most. |

My friend lives far away.
This is precisely the reason not to order Vonage service: if things do not work, you waste your time and pay round-trip shipping. What a rip-off! |

The thing is Vonage does work, if I read your latest post that you can now make calls, but just don't have access to your voice mail. Can you receive voice mail notifications in emails?
"I have called *123 dozens of time since yesterday, but the problem is that when I keyed in the "1234", it kept on asking for password. It looks like it did not detect that I have entered anything. I knew if I keyed in *, it supposed to ask me for anothter voicemail, but it did not recognized that I have pressed * either. "
The actual passcode is 1,2,3,4,5 unless you have changed it.
I have sent you a PM |

The passcode is 1234 as printed on my shipping order receipt.
I had my land line and my cell phone working right off the box. I have never called my land line or cell phone provider for any tech issues. For this Vonage thing, I have been calling every day since last Thursday. You tell me Vonage works.
Yes, I can place outgoing call now after they dramatically changed the adapter. But I can not access my voice mail. As for the sound qualtiy, it is good. I have talked over the Vonage phone with Vonage tech support for hours, they did not complain the sound quality. |

I used my landline to call a number outlined in the page you mentioned in my area yesterday and today a couple of times and was able to access the voice mail after keying passcode. I tried same number with Vonage phone, but it did not recognize that I have pressed any keypad.
I can leave voice message and got email notification. |

Well I don't what to tell you about that, at least you have your Vonage up and running.
Myself I usually don't use the phone to check the voice mail because of all the buttons you need to press just to get the messages. |
