Thanks for the information. Since the server is down here in Canada I can't even make a call to a Vonage number using Vonage Talk. I can however make toll free calls. |

VonageTalk doesn't work for me.
I keep getting the status message, "Error. Couldn't connect to host."
I guess that's why it's alpha software. |

Even with that error you should be able to make a call. I get the error but here in Canada I can only call a Vonage number. |

I tried it again adn, lo and behold, even with the message I could call out - even to non-Vonage numbers. |

this is a great low key feature from Vonage, glad people were persistent and kept posting that they could call any number with it. |

I can't call regular non-Vonage numbers. I have the $14.95/month plan. Perhaps that's why. 800 numbers do work as well as Vonage numbers. |

One of the features listed for Vonage Talk is the ability to check your voicemails. I received a voicemail on my Vonage phone line but I was not able to check for the new voicemail using Vonage Talk. I don't even see an option within V-Talk to check for new voicemails. Maybe this feature is just for the PC to PC calling.
Another feature I tested within V-Talk is the ability to make a conference call...This kinda works. Open V-Talk and from the "Call" drop down menu select "New Conference Call." A pop-up appears and then you input the two phone numbers that you would like to conference call with. When the first number called is completed, that caller is put on hold to initiate the second call. When the second call is completed and connected, you can start the conference call...Now is where the problem comes in. The first party called is muted even though their still on the line, the second party called works just fine.
I know this software is still in it's testing phase, but could someone whose using the Vonage Talk software test these two features (voicemails and conference calling) and tell me if they can or can not check for new voicemails and successfully make a conference call. |

I can't get any part of this software to work right, but it is an alpha version so I guess it is expected. I will stick with the softphone because I actually use the second line but this will be cool when they finally beat it into shape. |

To check your voice mail you have to dial the Vonage number in your area for voice mail, I have tried and I get the error: All lines are temporarily busy, please try again later. I get this same message if I call a Vonage number and before it goes to voice mail. Vonage is aware of these problems.
I haven't tried the conference call on this program, so I wasn't aware of any bugs with it.
With regards to the $14.99 plan, it probably does make sense you can only call Vonage numbers, but then again none of these calls show up in your call activity log. I was having issues that I couldn't call non-Vonage numbers and finally I could.
I still get the error can't connect to host, but the program works. Too bad we can't receive incoming calls, but then there would be no need for a soft phone. I have a work around this if someone wants to PM me. |

When I tried to check for voicemail, I dialed my Vonage phone number but I was greeted with the same error message as you. This error message also applies when I tried using the voicemail access number for my area. Thanks for verifying this for me. |
