I cancelled Vonage last week once I discovered that Verizon wouldn't let me keep the DSL, but get rid of the rest of the voice products (doh!). It didn't make sense to keep the Vonage if I couldn't cut costs. I do not have any other broadband alternative (i.e. cable modem).
However, I am unable to use my DSL now *unless* I run my ethernet cables from computer-->VOIP adapter-->DSL modem. That is, I want to be able to plug my computer directly into my DSL modem again. If it is any help, I recall technical support directing me to input some IP numbers (?) after typing in some sort of DOS command when I originally installed Vonage.
Vonage technical support does not want to help their ex-customer, and I came up dry perfoming searches in this forum. Thanks! |

If you are on verizon DSL and do not want to use a DSL router/firewall (BTW, you should really use a DSL router/firewall You need to be running the verizon PPPoE software on your PC. I think it is still called WinPoet but I have not worked for them in years and they may have changed the name by now. In any case, unplug the Vonage adapter, plug the DSL modem into your PC and if you still have it insert the CD you got when you signed up for DSL service. The CD should autorun and configure the system for you. If this fails, or you don't have your old cd, call verizon tech support or e-mail them and they will tell you where you can download the software from. Good luck. |
