I just recently had my land line phone number ported over so I've started hooking everything up to my Vonage router (RT31P2).

I noticed two problems tonight and called tech support.

1. I was getting a half ring instead of a full ring. Tech support said they would make a change to my router's config (obviously in that section under voice that I don't have access to) and call me right back. Problem solved.

2. Every 30 seconds my cordless phone lights up and says I have a message waiting. I do not get a stutter tone and I have no voice mail messages. In fact, earlier today I tried completely disabling voice mail via the web interface. After searching here and talking to tech support I tried the following:
A. Log into my voice mail via phone, set everything up, properly log out with the "*" key. The cordless phone continues to flash every 30 seconds. Tried logging in and logging out a couple more times, no change.
B. Reboot the router by disconnecting power.
C. Disconnect my wireless A/P to make sure I wasn't getting some weird interference with my 2.4 ghz cordless. Phone continues to flash.
D. Disconnected the battery and power cord from the cordless to give it a full reboot. Yeah, didn't think that would work, and it didn't.

I looked up the product info for my cordless, and things get even more strange. There is a light on the base station that is supposed to light up when connected to a phone service that supports voice mail notification. This light is not coming on. I am also not getting a stutter dial tone. The only other thing I can think that might cause this flashing handset is Vonage is sending down some kind of keep alive ping that is confusing the handset of my cordless phone. Has anyone else seen something like this? I'll be calling customer service again tomorrow, don't feel like sitting on hold for 40+ minutes again tonight.

that is the voicemail indicator. it's set to 30 seconds on the RT31P2.

Hi,
I am having the same issue, my cordless phone lights up every 30 seconds and won't recharge. I called the Vonage customer service and guy had absolutely no idea about this problem. I searched a little bit and found the postings on this forum. Then I sent an email to the customer service and received the response saying that V-WMI setting has been changed on my linksys router but problem is that it didn't resolve my issue. It is still doing the same thing. I was wondering if anybody else experienced the same thing.

I had that problem with a Motorola cordless phone. Every 30 seconds the phone would light up and read "msg waiting off". It wouldn't even hold a charge on the charger. Tech support was no help. Then I tried the email route and they NEVER replied.

I gave that phone to my sister and picked up a Panasonic that is sweet. Has Voice Enhancer, I can actually hear the other person, for $30 on CCs website. Still waiting for a reply....38 days and counting. I have resent the email every day for a week.
