Post subject: Vonage on line 1 of 2
I looked for this situation in other threads but could not find one, so I thought I'd post a new thread about it...
I currently have 2 lines coming into my house from Verizon. We'll call them Primary and Secondary.
I ordered a
Vonage
line on a week ago and upon sign up asked them to port my Primary phone number to my new
Vonage
line. So my Primary line from Verizon will be disconnected once the port takes place (after the 5 week waiting period, I guess). I plan to keep my Secondary line from Verizon (for faxing and home security system use).
I would like to setup my home's existing phone wires to use my
Vonage
line as my Primary line in the house, keeping the Secondary Verizon line as the Secondary line in the house.
After reading many different how-tos regarding disconnecting my house wiring from Verizon, I have read that it may still be dangerous to have my home wiring to carry both a
Vonage
line and a Verizon line at the same time.
I am curious if anyone has set up their house using the
Vonage
line as their Primary line but kept a Telco line as their Secondary line. If so, have you experienced any problems with this?
Thanks!
