Anyone notice the changes ?? you can now go to 5 different email accounts, and they will Text-SMS you as well..

UNFORTUNATELY, in Vonage's infinite wisdom, there are no canadian providers listed for SMS messages through the Vonage.ca site... Confused Confused Confused

(IE No rogers, telus, bell, fido, etc etc - only the main US carriers

That isn't offered on the Vonage Canada site, like other features you find on the Vonage U.S.A site.

We do have the pop up from Vonage, Hi can I help you. Says the name is Sarah, but always the same name 24/7. You ask a question and then told sorry I can't answer that please call......

If you call Vonage Canada they will tell you that option isn't available.

Can't you get a gmail address (or any web based) and anytime you get an email from Vonage saying you have voicemail redirect that to your cell phone?

I am little confused by your response, it is offered on the canadian site...

when I go to http://www.vonage.ca

enter my username and password, click on the Voicemail Tab, click on Voicemail settings, click on Email Notification, it gives me the pink screen with an option to enter up to 5 email addresses...
The pull down box for SMS still shows only US providers...

I do have my own mail server, and have setup the email address pcs@XXXX.net to redirect to my cell phone 613xxxxxxx@pcs.rogers.com, but if the option is there, they should have added in Fido, Telus, Bell, Rogers, etc.... for the canadian crowd...

I stand corrected. I looked at the splash page for Vonage Canada. I will call and see why this is. I will get the answer, it is only available for Vonage U.S.A, but I will inform them that it is on Vonage Canada site.

Well I called and this has to be one of the few times that I could barely understand the agent. She told me right away that this is for Vonage U.S.A and I asked why is it then on the Vonage Canada site. I was on hold and she came back and said it isn't ready for Canada yet, but when it will be they will inform Canadian customers. I then said, you have already informed us, it is on your damn website! OK, can I put you back on hold? She comes back with the answer that her "supervisor" gave her, you could try to enter your cell phone number and choose one of the cell phone providers, that might work.

I said once again, Vonage Canada tech support hasn't a clue what is going on with the company, and I hung up.

Before I could ask a question, I had to give my name and phone number, verify my account with my email address and home address. I asked why do you need this to answer a question, once again some nonsense answer, we need to verify it is you.....HUH?

I do not use TXT messages myself, but a friend does, he simply uses a regular e-mail address: Your-Cell-Phone-Number@cellprovider.ca

I send him regular e-mails that he receives as txt msg.

For example (fake number) "8185551234@txt.bellmobility.ca" for Bell Mobility. I am guessing this will send the text to your phone (with caller info in the 'From' field) and should trow out the WAV file included with the message, unless your provider supports this (I would be impressed).

Perhaps this will work for you?

problem is if you are a rogers user attempting to e-mail your cell directly they intercept it.

they notify you that a msg is waiting and the user needs to reply to get the msg.

this gets old fast.
