All,
I currently have a Motorola VT1005V Vonage adapter but recently was given a VT2142 adapter by someone who no longer uses it.
Are there any advantages of going from the VT1005V to the VT2142? Any improvements on voice quality or QoS? Would I even notice a difference?
How much of a hassle will it be going through Vonage and getting the information changed on the account if I do swap it out?
I checked and it wouldn't sell for much so I figured if nothing else I would hang on to it. Right now the LINE 1 on my existing VT1005V is fried so they have had to move me over to the LINE 2 port. I figured if nothing else I would keep it around until the VT1005V died but if there are bonuses to using the newer equipment then I would swap it over.
Anyone got any opinions? |

I doubt that you'll notice any difference in performance.
As for hassle, you should be able to just register the new unit on line and then switch your service to it on line as well. No real hassle at all. However, this applies only if the unit hasn't been previously used for Vonage service. If it has, and particularly if the account it was used on is delinquent, then you could have considerable trouble getting Vonage to let you use it.
Bottom line- try to register it on line and see what happens. |
