Hi,
My Linksys wired router that came with my service has died and is not under warrantee. I would like to replace it with a wireless router. I would like to get suggestions on what you think is the best wireless Voip router to use with a Vonage account. I have cable internet service.
Thanks in advance,

I think "best" in this context needs to include availability. The only wireless adapter currently offered on the Vonage website is the Motorola VT2542. Comments on that route/adapter in here seem to be somewhat negative, but mostly related to issues with it losing security settings and such when the power goes off. Of course, most traffic in here is about problems.
At retail, you may still be able to get either the D-link VWR or the Linksys WRT54GP2. The D-link got a lot of bad press in here because of firmware issues. The Linksys did somewhat better as long as its router duties were light.
From what I've read in here, your best option if you really want wireless is to get a good wireless router with good QoS capabilities and plug a simple Vonage adapter into it. For the Vonage adapter, the PAP2 or D-link VTA would be appropriate. From current offerings on the Vonage site, the VT2142. For the non-Vonage router, the Linksys WRT54GL with third party firmware seems popular among forum members. Do a search on author Natehoy. |

If you decide to go with the Motorola VT2542, Vonage is aware of the issue with the loss of security settings after a reboot or loss of power and will be releasing a firmware update within the next two weeks to correct the issue.
As for the Motorola VT2542 as a Voip device, the call quality I've experienced is excellent. |

Haven't had a problem with the power issue, but the VT2542 router works flawlessly with my computer, laptop, ps3 and wi and the call quality has been perfect. Also nice that I've got one less box than before (had Sunrocket and my old router). |

Could you tell me the software version of your Motorola VT2542? I'm currently on software version 11.4.1-r070201-1.3.2 -r1. When you login to your device, it will be listed on the "Home" tab. |

Same bios version as yours. Must note that the reason that I haven't had power issues is that I haven't lost power (no brown outs here in SoCal). |
