I use a Plantronics headset to make calls with SoftPhone on two computers running Windows XP. I use SuperMP3Pro recording software to record conversations. Voice quality is great, my voice records fine but incoming voice does not record either with SuperMP3 or Advanced MP3 Recorder software on either computer.
I use a Plantronics USB headset and have set up for this headset for both play and record in Windows control panel Sounds. Also have set up SoftPhone for it in Settings, and in SuperMP3Pro.
Since if I am not recording everything works fine, I think the problem has to be in my settings for SuperMP3Pro or Windows control panel but am at a loss as to where my mistake is.

Have your tried using xlite 3.0 softphone ? It has built-in recording. |

I didn't get a notification when you replied last month and so didn't see your message until today. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try xlite. |

I am using that softphone also, but haven't used the record option on it. You also have to tell someone that you are recording the phone call. I use Grand Central, but you can only record an incoming phone call I believe with that. |

thanks for info. I really like the xLink interface but can't make it register with Vonage. Sigh. |

You should be able to enter the exact information that Vonage sent you when you had to set up their version of the softphone. I never knew about this better softphone when I had my free trial from Vonage, so I can't confirm how to set it up. |

To be clear, I had no problem setting up xLink. It does require more information than Vonage gives you but the company that publishes xLink tells you exactly what to enter for Vonage. It isn't setting it up that's the problem. It's that when the program tries to register itself with Vonage, it does not succeed and eventually there is a 408 time-out message. If you don't enter the right setup info it never gets that far. |
