I just singed up to Vonage from Sunrocket. Is there a way to have the voicemail ring my cell phone when I have a new voicemail? I know that it will email me a notification, but I am not always at my computer during the day.
Thank you.

I don't think it'll "ring" your cell phone per se, but with respect to Emailing you, here's what it does, even if you're away from a computer...

* Voice mail notification to your cell phone will come across as a text message indicating that you have a new Vonage voice mail message from "123-456-7890." This way you can tell from which number the call came.

* You can also activate Simulring and select your cell phone. This means when your home Vonage phone rings, your cell phone will ring at the same time, allowing you to answer the call on that. It's kinda like having an extension no matter where you are. If you choose not to answer the call on your cell phone and the caller leaves a message, it'll be left on your Vonage voice mail and not your cell phone's.

If the cell phone's voicemail is set to answer before Vonage's voice mail, only the cell phone will receive the voice mail. If you prefer to have the Vonage voice mail to receive the message, set the Vonage voicemail to answer before your cell phone's voicemail. Login to your web account, click on the "Features" tab and configure your voicemail settings.

I don't have that problem. My Vonage voice mail is set to pick up after 25 seconds, and if I don't answer my Simulring cell phone call, it always goes to my Vonage voice mail.

One recommendation, however: if you're gonna call your Vonage voice mail from your cell phone, calling your home Vonage # won't work. You'll have to call the Vonage local access # and enter your complete phone #/mailbox #.

Greetings UMP25,

That's not a problem for you because your Vonage voicemail is answering the call before your cell phones voicemail. He or she might not have known that by adjusting your voicemail settings, "if" needed, the Vonage voicemail system can answer the call before the cell phone's voicemail. I know when I first setup Simulring, my cell phone would receive the voicemail, NOT my Vonage line...This was due to the cell phone's voicemail answering before Vonage's voicemail.

Yeah, which is why I mentioned I set my Vonage to answer after 25 seconds. My cell phone has always been set to ring something like 6 or 7 times before going to voice mail anyway.

You didn't mention that until "after" I posted to this thread. When you made the statement, "If you choose not to answer the call on your cell phone and the caller leaves a message, it'll be left on your Vonage voice mail and not your cell phone's." That statement would be incorrect "if" he or she's cell phone is set to answer before the Voange line. That's the point I'm trying to get across.

But your statement isn't entirely correct. When my cell phone is off, it goes immediately to voice mail. However, when someone calls my Vonage # with Simulring on, their call does NOT go to my cell phone's voice mail when it's off, even though by your contention it should; it goes to my Vonage voice mail.

Now you're putting words in my mouth, that was never my contention. When "you" turn off your cell phone with Simulring activated, your Vonage line will still ring. Because your Vonage line is set to answer before your cell phone, your Vonage line gets the voicemail not the cell phone. It's simply a matter of timing.

Well of course one's Vonage line will still ring. It always does. Rolling Eyes
