I just signed up for Vonage 500 monthly minutes plan. My phone adapter did not even shipped yet and my on-line account shows 11 minutes used. What's going on? Is this standard Vonage practice? 11 minutes will not kill me but loosing this amount every two days without making any calls on my 500 minutes / month plan might result in overage charges.
I sent an e-mail to Vonage asking for explanation but I also wanted to ask forum users if they have encountered anything like that.
Thanks. |

Where is the 11 minutes listed.
When I look at my online bill it shows free minutes used and free in-network minutes.
I have no idea what they are, and since I am on the unlimited package it isn't a big deal, but I don't dial anyone on the Vonage network. |

I believe free minutes are to toll-free numbers. As for the in-network minutes, do you use Vonage voicemail?
I can't blame the OP for being concerned. It might not matter on the unlimited plan, but if V's accounting system is buggy, some folks nearing the limit of their 500 plan might get billed for something they didn't do.
BTW, I noticed you changed your photo. I always got a chuckle at the old one. Must have been the hat..... |

The 11 used minutes are listed under "In-Plan Minutes used" in the Billing tab.
I have the voicemail enabled but like I said previously, I do not have any means of calling thru Vonage yet. I do not have the phone adapter. I just signed up two days ago and I am still using my SR adapter/account.
Do the incoming calls count against the 500 minutes?
Thanks. |

I do use the voice mail system.
Incoming calls don't count against your 500 minutes, but call transfer and call forwarding do.
My old photo was of a tv character here in Canada called Bubbles from the show The Trailer Park Boys. |

Check your call activity log and see what number was called. That should tell you where the 11 minutes went. |

I laughed under my breath every time I saw it. Quite amusing. |

No. Incoming calls are free, as well as calls to toll free numbers and Vonage and your voicemail. Are you using some sort of call forwarding while they port over your number? I believe you would get charged for any calls that are forwarded to a number outside of the Vonage network. |

Thank you all for replying. I think it was the forwarding feature that was using my minutes. I have set this feature up for the number I am currently porting to Vonage. Weird thing is that my activity states that I have received the forwarded calls not on the Vonage's virtual number but on the one I still have with SunRocket.
Anyway, I think my activity log shows correct minutes as there were 11 calls forwarded. |
