Post subject: SIP Info, Is it gonna be free or not?
I saw
here
that
Vonage
was gonna open SIP access. I think that would be much easier than the special softphone plan. We should just be able to use our existing phone numbers. OR m I missing the point and we already can do this? Why is the plan there ? We should be able to use out existing numbers if we already have accounts

Your link is to an article from Feb 2006.
Vonage
has still not made SIP credentials available, except to soft phone accounts, and there is no indication that they will change their policy. In fact, the introduction of the V-Phone would point the other way - since the V-Phone is really just a soft phone that can download your SIP credentials from
Vonage
without you seeing them. If they were going to give you that information, then they would not need the USB stick at all - just the software.

What's the current status? Is
Vonage
still not making SIP credentials available? But what's the problem with using a softphone line if the SIP credentials are available for that number?
