I run a small business with many customers, and my telephone number is extremely important on a daily basis. I want to port it to Vonage after receiving telephone bills of several hundred dollars. They state that it takes 10 days on their website and they provide a temporary number, but will my current number cease to work in these 10 days? |

That number will continue to work until ported over to Vonage. Leave your phone lines hooked up as they are but hook up your Vonage adapter to your modem with a phone connected to the Vonage adapter. Once the phone number is ported, then it will ring on the Vonage. Then you can set up how you want. My phone number was ported in 5 days. Usually on the Vonage account, it let you know when number will be ported. |

Just make sure though. That after placing the order with Vonage, don't cancel your current landline first or else, it will be lost forever. |
