First time poster and I'm hoping for some help. I have been using Vonage for nearly two years without a problem. We had a power outage and now I have no dial tone. I have unplugged everything and plugged it back in with the 30 second pauses in between. I have cable, my internet is working and the status lights on the adapter say it's working fine. I tried hitting the reset button on the back until the adapter reset as well and that didn't help. I have tried using a new phone cord. I tried switching ethernet ports on the router and using a different ethernet cord from the router to the adapter. I also tried running the adapter straight into the modem with no luck. If all my hardware seems to be fine and I have done the reboot thing a dozen times what else can I try?
Thank you in advance, Rick |

You could try switching the phone line from port 1 to port 2 or vice versa depending which port you are currently using. Log into your onling acct and move the line, reset the adapter and see if you have any luck. |

I will give this a go and see how things work out. I received an email from Vonage cust. service telling me to go in and reset to factory defaults with the RTP300 router. Only thing is that the user: user PW: tivonpw doesn't work so I cant save what they want me to save. Sigh. I get a bad password or login message when i use what they tell me to. |

reread the email a little more closely.
admin/admin logs you in to the router (especially if you already pushed the reset button if it does not then you are either not pushing it in far enough or the device is not able to release the settings)
then go to the admin page in the web interface of the router and then choose the factory defaults page and put a check in both of the boxes for provisioned and non-provisioned. NOTE: when you do this special reset DO NOT HAVE A PHONE CONNECTED TO ANY OF THE PHONE PORTS AT ALL
then after you put checks in the check boxes and click apply or the button may say reset on that page then it will prompt you for a username and password
it will look like you were just logged out of the router this is where you put in the Admin/tivonpw
the A must be capital in Admin
then it will give you message....make sure that you do not lose power during this or you have yourself a coaster instead of a router.
if this does not work call in to tech support and ask to speak to someone in ATS tell them that you have multiple emails regarding the issue and that you are a multiple contact |

I was on the phone for over two hours with tech support and their answer was "Well surely you have a dial tone now?" Well I don't, and stop calling me Shirley... As I mentioned before, it LOOKS like it should be working but it isn't. They concluded it has to be my phone or the ports both mysteriously went bad on my router at the same time. I went and bought a new phone and it doesn't work.
The first guy I had was nice enough and very patient. We tried everything shy of shaking the adapter into submission. POwer cycled everything, reset to defaults on the interface (they had to give me 3 sets of passwords before they found one that worked) hard reset the router, cloned mac numbers, changed ports etc. He eventually said that he had done everything he could for me and that on his end everything looked fine and that it was working. He was going to transfer me to the next level of customer support. Woohoo! I made it to level 2!.... The next guy starts over from square one, with the "Is it plugged in?" "Lets try powering it off and on again" stuff. My cell battery was about to die and I cut him off saying briefly everything we had just tried and he basically told me to try a new phone and that he would call back tomorrow. Yay. |

It is possible that whatever knocked out your power could have also "fried" your adapter. Also, have you checked the settings on your Linksys WRT54G? Maybe the power problem caused the router to use the default settings and something is messing it up. It's a stretch, but a thought. Good Luck. |
