I exported my configuration file (note, I couldn't change the default name of the saved config file or it would give me an error). Then imported it back in and it over-wrote all my wireless settings with default settings again. |

I am also a VT2542 owner with the same "configuration loss" problem every one else has. I have tried all the remedies and still have the problem. Ended up buying a UPS for the 2542, at least I don't lose config during a power failures.
Seem interesting that Vonage is no longer selling the VT2542 or any wireless router.
I have come the conclusion that it is a bad hardware design and the config loss problem can not be fixed with a firmware update otherwise it would already be done.
I suggest everyone who has a VT2542 keep constantly complaining until something is done. |

I have the same problems as everyone else with my VT2542. I also have noticed that settings survive reboots for a short period of time, but if the unit has been on over a few days the settings will always be reset to defaults after power loss. Must be a hardware problem. |

I also have a VT2542 which I bought back in October '07. From day 1, it has suffered all the problems that are mentioned in this thread. I've called and emailed tech support numerous times.
Has anyone had any luck getting any replacement hardware? At this point, I think I would be happy with a stand alone Vonage adapter. The VT2542 doesn't seem like a bad piece of hardware, it just loses all of its settings upon power loss. It has also locked up a couple of times while I was using streaming video through Netflix.
On a similar note, I still have a Linksys wireless router from before I had Vonage. Would it be possible to use the Linksys as my primary access point and then hook up the VT2542 to it? If so, how?
Thanks! |
