I have a bit of a quirky problem with Caller ID and I can't quite determine why.

I have a PAP2 V2 box connected to a Panasonic KX-TG6702 (two line) phone. My caller id worked with an old uniden phone I had, but I was having static issues and moved up to a 5.8GHZ phone, which resolved the static problem.

In my current configuration, if I receive a call "Incoming Call" comes up on the display, but no CID. I've tried waiting two, three, four rings. No matter. Also, nothing logs in the missed call log.

However, if I am on the phone and another call comes through (on the Vonage line) I get CID and it registers in the missed call log.

I know there has been a lot of discussion on the forum about CID problems, but I wanted to through this out and see if anyone had any thoughts.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having this problem. I called Vonage and they didn't know anything about it. They said to reboot the router. It's still doing it.

Are you using house wiring with your setup?

Does the problem still occur if you disconnect from house wiring? Are you, TopJimmy, also using a PAP2? Have you changed Vonage adapters recently?

Corpus3467, are you also using house wiring?

I'm not using house wiring. PAP 2 is sitting about two feet from the phone and they are directly connected.

TopJimmy, I think you'll want to try disconnecting from the house wiring, but it sounds as if this is a problem with the PAP2 adapters. We had similar issues with the RTP300 adapters awhile back, but I haven't heard of a similar one with the PAP2s until now.

With the RTP300 issue, CID was erratic, and using or not using house wiring often made a difference, but not a consistent one. Adjustments made from the Vonage end sometimes helped, but, again, not consistently. The problem was eventually solved with a firmware update from Vonage. Speaking of which, what firmware are you each running?

I hate to say it, but this sounds like something that only Customer Service will be able to fix.

This might sound like a stupid question but have you tried unplugging your power cord from the base? I recently switched from a VT1005 to a WRTP54G and noticed that my Caller ID didn't work anymore. I also have a Panasonic phone (KX-TG5776).

I unplugged the power for about 2 minutes with the phone in the base and then reconnected. It's worked fine ever since.

I have tried re-booting the PAP2, but I had not tried unplugging the phone. That didn't work either. When I had previously spoken with customer service I didn't get very far.

Are there different levels of support available through Vonage - the basics and then an elevated level??
