Starting a couple weeks ago we lost dial tone at least once a day. Resetting the modem (power cycle and/or reset button) got it back. However doing that repeatedly got old.

After spending several hours on the phone with Vonage "Customer Service" they decided to send me a new (read refurbished) router. I plugged that in and still had the same problem. After several more hours of calls with more Vonage people they determined yet another router was in order.

Has anyone else seen this kind of problem and was it ultimately resolved with a string of router replacements? Also, what are your experiences in getting service credit for this type of inconvenience?

Do you also lose internet connectivity when this happens?

Good question and I don't know. I've never had a dropped call, just lots of times when I pick up the phone and there's no dial tone. I can say that in the 18 months that I've had FIOS I've never lost my internet connection. (Yes, I *am* lucky in that respect.)

I guess that should have been mentioned in my initial message:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Your location - Arlington, VA
2. Your ISP name and type (cable, DSL, wireless etc) - Verizon FIOS
3. Upload and download speeds - 15Mb/5Mb
4. Modem make and model - Actiontec
5. Type of Vonage adapter used = RT31P2
6. Setup of Network ie Modem---->Vonage Adapter-->PC - Yep
7. Issue you are experiencing ie dropped calls, choppy audio etc - No dial tone
8. Run this Voip Test: After the test has fully completed, in the Advanced Tab, click on "View Text" in the lower right hand corner. Copy-N-Paste that data into your post. - Won't run, I think it's a Java issue.

Do you use P2P applications at all? BitTorrent, etc? If so, most of the Vonage routers are going to have problems and need a restart about once a day or so.

Nope, no P2P anywhere on my network. (good point though) The only thing connected to my Vonage router are my two phone lines. That connects to my Actiontec which inturn goes to the Internet. (all of them Smile ) There's another router where I have all my computers connected that also connects to the Actiontec. I understand this is a pretty common configuration.

One suspicion I have is that Vonage is having some service degradation issues. I'm trying to find out if the problem extendes to others, at least in my area.

OK, but when the phone stops working, have you ever tried accessing the internet before you reset the modem? If not, please try that the next time the phone service goes down.
