Hi All, A friend of mine has given me his RT31P2 device, which he cancelled Vonage due to issues, well I can see why as it has the flashing power LED problem, i.e. seems the flash has gone bad. Has anyone had success in bringing this unit back to life? I can not ping it or get any response from the unit and it does not offer up DHCP either. I would prefer to use this unit over my current one, but only if I can revive it on the cheap.
Thoughts anyone? I have the firmware for the device, if I can only find a way to get it to respond so I can blow the firmware again. |

You may or may not be able to transfer the device to your account.
Having said that, about the only way I know of reviving a dead unit like that is to try a factory reset - press and hold the reset button for at least 30 seconds with the power on.
You can try pinging it during the few brief moments it spends powering up (hardcode an IP address to your PC). If it responds to a PING, you might possibly manage to TFTP in a new firmware image. Barring that, if it supports it, you may be able to build a JTAG cable... but if your current device works, I'd stick with that - an RT31P2 that already has problems is more likely to have problems again in the future. |

Hi dude,
Check the power adapter which providing the exact voltage, check with different wall outlet and remove from the surge protector if you are using. Power source might be an issue. still issue exists the device gone bad.... |
