Hello all, I will begin by posting the answers to the questions asked in the sticky:

1. Your location: Durham, NC

2. Your ISP name and type (cable, DSL, wireless etc): Road Runner Cable

3. Upload and download speeds: Download: 5 mbps, Up: 365kbps

4. Modem make and model: Motorola Surfboard SB5101

5. Type of Vonage adapter used: D-Dlink VTA

6. Setup of Network: Modem -> D-Link WBR-1310 Wireless Router -> 2 computers and the Vonage Device

7. Issue you are experiencing: My router is dropping the internet connection during calls so my calls drop. If I plug my Vonage device directly into my cable modem, I can use it just fine. I have been on the line several times with Vonage and D-Link tech support, and D-Link says it is because I have not opened all the necessary ports. I have looked at the Vonage website and opened the ports, but still, no luck.

EDIT: Oh, I should add that I just moved and I never had any problems with this before the move. I didn't even have to forward any ports before. I have the same ISP, the same router, the same Vonage device, and the same phone.

Do you have MAC Address Cloning turned on in the Vonage VTA? That's the most common cause of this type of issue - if the VTA has the same MAC address as anything else in the network, it's going to cause a lot of confusion in your network.

No, none of the devices on my network have the same MAC Address. I am using Network Magic and it says they are all different. Although, when I got here, I did have to click a Clone MAC Address button on my router's webpage to get my connection to work at all.

Any other info that could help?

The only other thing I can think of is some sort of issue with the router, but if it worked where you were before, I can't see how that could be a factor.

Well, I just decided to bite the bullet and buy a new router. D-Links are pretty terrible anyway, and they would not tell me what I could do to fix it.

I bought a Linksys WRT54G and it works fine now, even without any port forwarding. I just wish I hadn't thrown my money away on that D-Link router.

D-Link is one of the brands I've developed a lot of distaste for over the years, but I try to restrain my opinions of them on the boards, since a lot of people do actually use them and they seem to work. I suppose duct tape can even hold ducts in place occasionally, too.
