have had this setup for over two years, no problems. i live in nicaragua (read: lots of thunderstorms, have 'em every day it seems) and the other day, i noticed there was considerable static on my Vonage line, to the point that i can no longer use the service (i have a dial tone, it's just overwhelmed by the static)
it doesn't seem to be a technical issue. in other words, no garbled VOIP-related noise. instead, it's good ole fashioned cracklin' static...to the point where i can barely hear the dial tone. anyone else have this issue where everything is great, and one day, poof!
everything else works fine. could i have fried the phone adapter? suggestions?? |

I'd start by switching the line to the other port. on the Vonage web site, log into your account and go to "add ons" and there is a "move a line" option that allows you to switch your line to the other phone port on your device.
Having said that, your numbers are pretty bad, but that wouldn't explain static... |

NateHoy.....I switched to the other port and the static remains. Yeah, my #s are quite bad, which I attribute to being in Nicaragua. Yet, I've had no probs with Voip in the past. Any theories/suggestions? |

Check your power adapter. Can you find a replacement on the cheap? Also, try a different telephone.
The lightning could have taken out anything, and unfortunately that quite possibly includes some of the voice circuitry on the Vonage adapter. However, we can try eliminating other stuff first.... |
