I call Vonage to order, and I'm told they cannot transfer my toll-free numbers.
Compuweb has been in business for years using 1-888-compuweb. If I want to switch carriers to Vonage I have to say goodbye to a toll-free number that has been in service for years when all other carriers will let me transfer it.
I see this as a road block for switching to Voip in general, and Vonage in particular ... as much as I would like to save on my monthly phone bills I cannot inconvenience my customers this way.
When will this barrier be worked out so that toll-free numbers will be able to be switched to point to Voip lines??? |

Of trusting your business needs to Vonage. After a good experience with Vonage on our home phone, I decided to give Vonage a shot at one of our business lines. Big mistake!
I have had a support ticket opened on a voicemail issue since September and it is costing me $$ because customers can't leave a message. Not once in the last 60 days has Vonage pro-actively communicated with us on this issue. Finally had time to call them two weeks ago and was on hold for about 30 minutes. They finally got me off the phone by telling me the call had been escalated.
A week passed and Vonage does nothing. I called them again, waited on hold for another 30 minutes and was getting nowhere talking to the tech rep. Asked to speak with a supervisor but there was none to be found. Told the tech rep I wanted to cancel my service and suddently I had a "supervisor" on the line. Was then assured by this fellow that they would have an answer to the problem "early next week".
Now over a week later, I have heard nothing about the problem from Vonage. I have sent a number of emails to the person who "took ownership" of the case and received one reply.
The only reason I haven't cancelled the service is because I don't have the time right now.
IS Vonage LISTENING? DO THEY CARE? If so, they can contact me for the next 3 days at vonagecares@spamhole.com
Thank you for listening, I feel better having written this ridiculous episode.

I want to try Vonage, even for my business, but can't because they are not able to transfer my toll-free line that is well established and I can't part with that particular toll-free number. I feel like they have a good phone solution but need to enable toll-free number transfers.
It reminds me of a recent problem I had when I signed up for Stamps.com. I install the software only to find out that they can't simply print postage onto a window envelope. They require that you 1.) type out the address, 2.) print onto a label that you have to purchase, 3.) stick label on envelope. So I asked them, why not stick stamp on envelope, save money on the labels, and time having to type out the address and print through the printer.
Voila! |
