So he has an SPA 2101? That is not even a Vonage capable device, which means he has some other service(most likely sunrocket with that device). You might try posing your question on a forum for whatever Voip service he has. They would most likely be able to help you with the device specific questions you are asking better than the Vonage users here who have never seen the device before. Alternatively, just call the support line for Linksys and see if they can assist you.
Just as an aside, if you don't see specific info for the PS3 on portforward.com you can always just DMZ the PS3. |

If that is the case, his dad is getting screwed by Comcast because he is paying probably $5 a month for each extra IP address. Also, from my research online, his Vonage device-SPA 2102 is essentially the same as a PAP2 as it is just phone device and isn't a router. I would like to help but again I am confused after reading the entire thread multiple times. First it's a router then it's a hub and people are refering to the SPA 2102 as it has routing built in and that's not what I find looking at the device online. If somebody would like to clarify, I would like to help. |

Click on the user guide. It's a phone adapter with a router built in. On the web interface it has two areas - one for the phone and one for the router. Pretty standard Linksys setup with different connection types, DHCP, port forwarding, etc, etc. |

I think you are right in that this device is not one of the Vonage/Linksys partner devices. I have seen this device mentioned with Sunrocket.
Sunrocket or Vonage - either way, it's a router so there are several potential options on getting this to work better. Might be better off double checking the Voip provider and like you said, hitting the right forum boards with these questions. |

Personally I cannot stand D-Link products. I've just a string of bad luck with everyone I have to work with. For homes, I stick with Linksys mainly because they are owned by Cisco and their product is brain dead easy to setup.
The D-Link router you show here - you can get a Linksys WRT54G for the same price. Plus the WRT54G is wireless but you can turn that off. Nice thing is, if you ever wanted wireless, it's available and you would just need to turn it back on. |
