i tried it and it didnt work... have u guys heard about powerboost from comcast would that help my problem and also how much is that optimizer because it doesnt say on the website[/quote]

First: "powerboost" from Comcast is automatic. There's nothing for you to buy or adjust. It senses the need for brief additional download speed and opens it up to you. You need to be more specific with what your setting are and what you've tried to correct the problem and how it's currently connected.

Second: For a price on the Linksys Network Optimizer go to any computer super store or web site.

Third: Don't bother with port forwarding or disabling the firewall on the Vonage adapter. Just put it AFTER your router.

Forth: People are trying to help you and you're not giving enough information to allow them to help. So if you're not going to put away your bad attitude you'll keep getting comments like the "spoiled" one. A little reading on the Vonage help pages will take you a long way too.

ok i am sorry for my bad attitude...here is what i know about my network, i have a net gear en 104 hub, a linksys Voip spa 2102, and an rca modem with a comcast connection... currently the Voip box is in between the router and the modem. i tried to put the Voip box behind everything else but as soon as i did that the phone stopped working so i put it back. the netgear hub has 4 slots and all 4 are currently bieng used bye the two laptops and the pc. i usually just take the ethernet wire out of my laptop and put it in my ps3. i dont no of any other information that i can give.

also could it be that i have a hub not a router. would it make a difference if i got a new router?

The SPA 2102 claims it has QoS. Read the manual (or look it up on a Google search) and find out how to prioritize traffic to your PS3. That could help out some. The optimizer runs around $100. If you sold it properly to your parents, you could tell them that the device helps to manange the traffic for voice and browsing more efficently so the phone will work better. Of course it would also help out your gaming.

Also there is no way to put the Linksys/Vonage adapter "after" the router. According to what I am seeing, the SPA 2102 is both the router for your network and your Voip phone. The only thing you can do is either get a traffic optimizer or play with the QoS settings in the router portion of the Linksys device.

You are correct. The EN104 is a hub and not a router so the proper place for it would be after the Vonage device. I

f you were to replace the EN104 Hub with a router you CAN place the SPA2102 after the router, but you would have to turn off DNS on the SPA2102 and assign the SPA2102 gateway IP address to a new address. i.e. if it shows 192.168.0.1 for the default Gateway address (I believe this is the default on most linksys devices) you'll want to change it so that it doesn't conflict with the address of the router.

If you're replacing the hub with a router, go wireless for the laptops so you won't have to keep pulling cables to plug in the PS3.

ok guys i talked to my dad about the optimizer and he said it was too much money but he said if i found a good/cheap router then he would buy it if it helps the problem so i came up with this........ http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/D-Link-Ethernet-Broadband-Router-EBR-2310/sem/rpsm/oid/150777/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do#tabs

im looking for a wired not wireless because my ps3 is 2 floors above where the hub is so i need wired... do u recommend anything around $25-60 price range thats wired?

i also looked up thats prioritizing taffic on google and i came up with nothing

I would like to post here but I am lost. From what I can tell, he has a network that only consists of a cable modem going into a hub and then feeding the LAN devices. If that is the case, his dad is getting screwed by Comcast because he is paying probably $5 a month for each extra IP address. Also, from my research online, his Vonage device-SPA 2102 is essentially the same as a PAP2 as it is just phone device and isn't a router. I would like to help but again I am confused after reading the entire thread multiple times. First it's a router then it's a hub and people are refering to the SPA 2102 as it has routing built in and that's not what I find looking at the device online. If somebody would like to clarify, I would like to help.

ok the spa 2102 is a phone adapter that plugs into the netgear en 104 hub... for some reason the spa says on it thats its a router but it isnt and also when i type my i.p address into my browser it comes up to the linksys spa configuration page which is only supposed to happen with a router

also i found out that my conncetion speed is 10 mbps... i dont know if this is good or bad?
