PostPosted: Wed Jun 27, 2007 6:48 am    Post subject: Uniden UIP 1868V droped calls / Dlink router Reply with quote Back to top

Hello and thank you for viewing this thread I am hoping someone can help me here, this is just painful.

Here is my new and improved set up yet I still have the dropped calls. I upgraded from my Linksys BEFW11S4 Ver 4 to this

Internet > D-link DIR-615 > Uniden UIP 1869V

My internet connection is a pretty good here is the results of the
Vonage speed test.

DL: 2.72 MBPS
UP: 199 KBPS
QoS: 69%
RTT: 200 ms
MP: 189

I can make calls and they sound great, but some where between 10 and 60 seconds the call is dropped, this is incoming and outgoing. I have tried lowering the bandwidth to 30 kbps to no avail.

Someone please help if you can.

I have been having issues with my UIP 1869V and Dlink router (DIR-635) as well. Uniden has confirmed that the UIP1869V has QOS built in. This being the case you should try installing the UIP 1869V in front of the Dlink router and see if it helps. It has not solved my problem, but it has help to eliminate some additional variables.

I will try that, but I am worried because my internet is PPPoE, I am not sure how well that will work if it is in front of the router.

In which device would I put the log in and password for the computers?

The UIP1869V has a full fledged router with firewall, NAT and PPOE login capability built in to it. You can download a very good user guide at Uniden.com. You will need to register and go to downloads and select UIP1869V under "Phones" to be able to download. But the user's guide has fairly complete instructions on the settings of the firmware in the UIP 1869V.

Here is the big issue with the Uniden acting as my router, I can not find where I can enter the Primary DNS and Secondary DNS under PPPoE. I need to enter them to get into the net. Yet It seems on the Uniden UIP 1869V there is no where to put them.

Ugh Vonage is killing me

if your setup is like: modem>>dlink>>Uniden, make sure firewall is diabled on the dlink or the Uniden is under DMZ. You can also try port forwarding. if this will not help, try changing the channel for your wireless network. signal interferrence might be the cause. for testing purposes, you can also try to disable the wireless capability of your router.

It does not look like that is specifically addressed in the document I mentioned. If you are already registered on the Uniden site I would send their tech support an e-mail explaining your issue. There may be a workaround buried in the firmware that is not obvious. For example, the document says you can change DNS servers if you select "Static" as your Wan Interface. Maybe the DNS servers entered there will then apply if it is changed back to PPOE. I don't know since I use DHCP. But Uniden tech support got a response to me in 2 days about QOS which is not documented anywhere. So I would give them a shout.

I am waiting for a reply from Uniden about the PPPoE and DNS entry. Nothing yet.

I will report if anything comes out.
