PostPosted: Thu Jun 21, 2007 7:15 pm    Post subject: List of VoIP wifi handsets that work with Vonage? Reply with quote Back to top

I currently have a Vonage F1000, but it's clunky, runs hot, is uncomfortable held next to my ear, etc (the volume is also very low, but maybe I have a defective unit)...really a very bad example of a handset.

I'd be willing to spend more on a VoIP wifi phone that feels/works better.

Is there a list somewhere of VOIP wifi phones that work with Vonage (essentially an F1000 replacement)?

Thanks...

The original Vonage Branded F1000 is the only WiFi phone that will work with a Vonage main account. On the other hand, almost "any" SIP based WiFi phone should work with a Vonage soft phone account (which you would add to a main account). This is based on the Vonage policy of only offering main accounts on their branded and locked devices.

If you want to look at different available WiFi phones for a soft phone account, I would recommend having a look at voipsupply.com (The Skype phones won't with anything but Skype. The SIP phones will work with anything that allows BYOD, including Vonage soft phone).

I use a SJ Labs softphone for my Vonage Softphone number with an iPAQ rx1955 ppc.

The upside is, it is portable and I can use it as an mp3 player, check email, etc.

The downside, I have to pay for two numbers, one of which I never use and Vonage, I believe, has no intentions of making the softphone an individual product. The battery does not last long with the wifi turned on and I have to use an earbud to talk.

Hope this helps with any decisions.

I have an iPaq 4150...SJPhone...plugged in all the Softphone parameters, and have not been able to get hooked up...I keep having problems with "NAT" and "Cone" it seems no matter whose "open" wireless network I try to use.

No luck with SJPhone tech support...but then it is a free program.

Thanks...
