Canadian number to Vonage -> Portability?

Hello all,

I will be moving to the UK in August, and living with my boyfriend who has a UK Vonage account. He has told me that he can get a Canadian number as a virtual number, but what I would rather do is get my current phone number here that I have with Bell, ported to his Vonage as a virtual number. Is this possible? Has anyone done it?

You could port the number to Vonage in your name, but not in his. I think you'd have to port to Vonage Canada first and then switch to Vonage UK.

You could both get Vonage with the 500 minute package, too, and don't worry about what your phone number is. Calls from Vonage to Vonage are free.

Hmm.. that ****. I really want to keep my Canadian number once I move, and would rather that we only have one Voip box in the house, not two.

So, one can switch a Vonage Canada account into a Vonage UK one? Nice.

As far as I know, you can switch. I'm fairly sure I've seen other people do it.

what i could suggest is port that number in your canadian account first. after the transfer is completed have your account merged with your bf's account and have your number converted into a virtual number that would ring to his number.

With Vonage in Canada you need to sign a 2 year contract, if you break the contract you have to pay a month's service fee.
