I have just bought and installed vonage with D-Link wireless router. I thought for £40 i can get any decent router but with free calls for £8 a month seemed worth a go.
As i am with NTL/Virgin i have no caller ID on my home phone - with Vonage i do !
I have a Work Fax at home which bugs my wife so i wanted a 2nd line - NTL/Bt are looking at £11.00 per month plus calls.
So i now have a good quality router, second phone line, and an almost happy wife.
There is no difference in quality of calls. I see only benefits. Take the plunge
Fantastic, Excellent. Very Happy |

Since exclaiming how happy i was with my new Vonage service, i have one more positive.
My wife today told me she had phoned her friend in Bulgaria (from UK), having frantically loaded my vonage home page i found that a 17 minute call (weekend) cost £2.04.
Not sure if this is good or not i checked on Virgin Media call calculator to check cost had she used other phone ....15 minutes...£8.91. nearly 5 times the price.
Still very happy with Vonage. After 1 month received first bill excellent value for money had no problems with quality (except when modem was unplugged to do hoovering) however call were automatically routed to my other fixed line (Free of Charge).
No Negatives so far |

Had Vonage for 18mths now, had no problems whatsoever. don't even notice it is not a fixed line. Last month did away with fixed line altogether and added Vonage fax line - after a few teething issues and a couple of really easy and helpful calls to helpline all was sorted. ( I forgot to plug fax in via adaptor) - Having trawled ebay to find a suitable adaptor then found original packaging came with 2 anyway.
So for £14 a month i have 2 lines hardly any call costs plus i was a ble to select a dialling code away from my home area for the Fax Line.
One of the few services i have had no problems with and found customer services brilliant when i was stupid. |

i wonder if you can answer a couple of questions
1. my power light blinks 4 times pauses then repeats has done this since in hooked up the router i do not have a phone attached i am just using as router for wireless it says it is registering with vonage when it does this so should it have stopped or is it because i am not using a phone aswell.
2. can you use this router with vista as i am using xp (sp3) at the moment but it is said its not possible.
Any help appreciated in these matters as i cannot find the answers anywhere else.
thanks paul. |
