PostPosted: Mon Jun 11, 2007 3:47 pm    Post subject: Take One Line Home Reply with quote Back to top

New business subscriber to Vonage server here (2 lines). Received a two line VT2142 adapter with my service.

Would like to be able to take one line to another location (on occasion). IOW, I would like to buy a new Vonage adapter, then (on occasion) switch the service from my second line (from the VT2142) to my new adapter.

Can this be done? And (if so) what adapter should I buy and what online service is recommended for this?

TIA

Thanks, I understand how I can swith lines (once an adapter is registered).

But, can I register a new adapter without buying a new line?

And what's the best adapter to buy and where?

I think you can only have one adapter active at a time, might be different if you have 2 lines.

I am using the Linksys wireless router with vonage adapter all in one. It is the WRT54GP, it was marked down from $140 to $89 at a box store here in Canada. I haven't had any problems with it.

Which one are you using now?

I have the VT2142 (accommodates two lines).

I guess maybe my question boils down to "can a person register a new adapter without buying a new line???"

I got a free one with Vonage when I signed up, the same one you have. I decided to purchase another one because of the wireless router included. I have them both activated, but like I said only one at a time.

OK, so how did you get your additional adapter "registered" - did you buy it through Vonage or through some other vendor?

I bought mine from a store and then I called Vonage and provided them with MAC number from the box.

On the homepage of Vonage.com. Click on the link that says "Bought it at a store, Click here to activate." If you are a current customer, you can follow the steps to just add the device to your account and not have to set up or add any additional lines.

Great - that was the information I was looking for, thanks! (Right this minute, the link doesn't work, but I'm hoping it will be fixed soon.)
