Post subject: Having issues with Static IP
Maybe this has already been dealt with but I havent seen this in the old posts.
I have a MTA VT1005v I was using this at my home with a Cbale modem and Linksys router with DHCP. This week I moved it to my office where we have 10 megs of dedicated BW. I hooked up the VT1005 and it is constantly showing 4 blips. Which indicates it needs to register to
Vonage
registration server. I have assigned the terminal with Static IP and I have been assured there are no ports blocked in our BW by both the Local Admin and also BW(XO communication) provider. I can hook up a Laptop to the Terminal (PC port) when the DHCP server is on and browse the web. Also I have used Port scanners and IP scanners to look for the Box on my network and it doesnt show up at all! very strange!
According to the Genious(read Tech) at
Vonage
this is due to packet loss!! We heavily monitor our bandwidth due to the nature of our Bizz and we have less then >>>.001% Packet loss in a year!! So that is not the issue.
Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Post subject: Gateway
Here are some things I would try...
1. Setup your static IP to not use DHCP. Enter all the values manually. Sometimes the router may hunt the wrong Primary gateway unless you do this.
2. Make sure your service provider doesn't need your MAC address. Sometimes they don't assin an IP unless they have this.
3. Since you can't see the router on the network, it sounds like it's hunting the wrong primary gateway. You might also check to make sure you are using the correct subnet mask.

Also make sure that your SIP ports aren't getting blocked. Ports 5060-5063. If so that could be the issue.
If not 4 blinks call
Vonage
and make sure you are registering with the correct proxy (your unit configuration image may be looking for a proxy vs. the proxy the servers are looking for your device to come into)....bahhumbug!
4 blinks could be a MAC registration problem. I doubt it as your MTA would not get an IP address (past 2 blips) if this was the case. Also I'm sure you have your MTA behind a NAT wall so it isn't directly getting the WAN ip address but a private one instead.
Bad news if you try all the above and it still doesn't work not sure what to tell you.
Good news is I have a ton of money on my car insurance by switching to Geiko!
ciao!
