I have a panasonic phone w/extra base setup, linksys (vonage) router, smc wireless router, cable modem. It worked fine for a long time and suddenly the phone always displays "in use."
I have de-registered all the handsets, registered them one at a time and it still does this. If I reboot the vonage router it does not even give me a chance to get a dial tone, it's already "in use."
I've also shut off everything (cable modem, routers, phones) and on and off and various resets but nothing has helped.
Can't think of anything different since I used the phone last (for an outgoing call) other than maybe the kids touched it and did something? They only have access to the handsets. |

Are you sure that it's this phone? If you're using house wiring, there could be problems with the wiring or with another phone plugged in somewhere. |

I am not using house wiring. The base is plugged directly into the vonage box and the rest of the handsets are just satellites to the main base (expandable handset phone) No house wiring involved at all. Besides, it doesn't even work with just the main base/phone. |

It sounds like the phone is down for the count. To be sure, plug a simple corded phone into the Vonage box and make sure that it works correctly. You might also want to try the Panasonic at a friend's house. Also try pulling batteries and AC power from the Panasonic for a couple of hours, but it doesn't sound good for that phone. |
