I ordered the wifi phone thru the Vonage website on Friday. On Saturday, before I've even received the phone, I received a voicemail from a collection agency looking for the previous holder of the number. I emailed customercare@vonage.com, explained, and asked them to change the number since the collection calls will continue.
Their response was to do it thru the website and it'll cost me $9.99. Pretty bad customer service. In fact it couldn't get much worse.
I thought I read somewhere something about cancelling accounts without penalty during the first 30 days if there are problems or you don't like the service. Now I can't find it. Has anyone else seen something like this or am I thinking of something else?
I guess the alternative is to send the phone back unopened when it arrives and dispute the charge with the credit card company. I'd like to avoid that. |

call Vonage. an agent will be able to change your number in no time without cost. response thru email uses pre-formatted templates. agents assigned to this queue will just type in your name. |

Hmmm. I can't stand collection agencies that have no brain. People can put down any phone number and nobody bothers to check it until they call after a bill isn't paid.
I like the idea of calling the agent. I will be extremely surprised and disappointed if Vonage doesn't help you on this situation after talking to them. But . . .
I still like my method for handling unwanted calls. Of course you may not wish to try this at home. Place a gun loaded with blanks by your phone (assuming you have no children). When the collection agency calls yell away from the phone, "I told you I didn't want any more calls for your unpaid bills." Have someone scream. Then fire the gun. Hang up. In the US you did not commit a crime, but you might get a visit from someone. It usually stops the calls. |

I had the same problem with my prepaid T-Mobile phone. I got several messages from a collection agent. (I live in Canada and this phone is my travel phone to avoid roaming charges, so I don't use it all that much.) ( simply phoned them (from my Vonage phone ) and talked to a customer service rep at the collection agency. They were quite apologetic and removed me from their list, and haven't bothered me since.
They realize it happens. |

That wouldn't be Redline Recovery calling from 713-423-1020 would it???
I have the CEO's personal email and home phone number if you need it.
I've been getting the same calls for years - even when I was using Verizon. I finally git tired of them and decided to call the head guy. |
