I started having a problem a couple of days ago after my Vonage service had been working fine for well over a year. All of a sudden, I had no internet and no phone service. Internet works fine when connected directly from my cable modem to the computer. Also, I am able to connect to the router setup via IP address (wireless only; can not connect via ethernet connection), but can not connect to the internet via the router, either wired or wireless. When I connect the cable modem to the router, the 'Internet' status light flickers as if it is connected, but still nothing happening. The phone status light is out completely. Have already tried all the obvious, power cycling everything, resetting router etc. Trying to figure out if the problem is with setup of the router, or if something actually fried in the router itself. And of course since I have no phone, and am not in a great cell phone area, I can't keep Vonage tech service on the line long enough to try to figure it out before my cell cuts out. |

try to check the ethernet light status..it must blink like the internet..if not.try connecting it to the other port..i also guess that something is fried in your router.since its been with you for a year..but try changing the ethernet cables..they are using straight through cables..it must be in your cable or the router |

hard reset your device 3 times. press the reset button for 30 seconds and do it 3x. this will restore the device to factory defaults and also will reset to the last known working firmware. your device may have been flashed a firware upgrade. there is a thread here about prob that happens when wrtp54g device is upgraded with a new firmware. if you still cannot get DT, try doing a MAC clone. |

have tried multiple ethernet cables (which I know are working), and tried all the ports. No status indicator lights blinking on any of them. I tried resetting the device 3x, no success; did a MAC clone, again no success. Status shows nothing for Internet IP etc on the router (0.0.0.0), voice status says 'Provisioning failed', whatever that means. Any other thoughts, suggestions? |

have you done a ipconfig /all in your DOS prompt??this will show if your computer has acquired an IP, if it shows an 169.254.1.1.something IP, then it has not acquired an IP,check your router's web setting if it is DCHP enabled...and also your pc if it is DHCP enabled..
TO CHECK IP OF ROUTER..
cmd propmt>type ipconfig /all>get default gateway>open web browser>type default gateway to address bar>use admin as username and password |

When I am directly connected, I get a good IP address. Going through the router, ipconfig gave me 'Media Disconnected' for the ethernet, and under wireless, gave me the standard address of my router for the gateway (192.168.15.1); IP shows 192.168.15.100. DHCP is enabled both on computer and on router. Is it a telling sign that when I try to direct connect from my computer to the router, Windows is saying 'network cable is unplugged' and the status lights are not lit? Have tried all 4 ports on the router with same result...the status lights on my computer ethernet port have occasionally flickered simultaneously when connected to port #2 on the router, but not even the connectivity light is staying lit... |

I say do an online tech chat with Linksys they are pretty good. Also if you have Skype you can call Vonage using the toll free number for free, I have done that before. |
