I am trying to help a friend who just bought this Uniden UIP1869V Voip Phone / Router device and notice there isn't any supports on STUN nor Outbound Proxy server. She is about to return this device to the vendor and terminate her one month free trial unless she can get this device to work properly without no audio and not being able to be called. Does anyone know what are the RTP ports range used on this device so I can help her to give it a last shot to open the ports for this device to function properly before she returns the product? |

easiest setup would be to set the Vonage device in DMZ of your router. i assume you have this kind of setup: modem>>router>>vonage device. i would suggest you reconfigure your network: modem>>vonage device>>router. with this setup, you don't need to change any firewall settings on your router. this will not affect your LAN security. |

We had tried this option to no avail.

Unfortunately, this is not an option for her.
With the rate of getting no helps from Vonage as well as from forum like this, I have already suggested to her to terminate her contract with Vonage and return the product to its vendor with a 30-day money back guarantee. |

RTP is UDP 10000-20000. All initiated from the user's network, no port forwarding required. |

just install it directly to the modem and the 3rd party router behind the uniden..so that she'll have a better voice quality |

If you read my previous post, I already mentioned that this is NOT an option for her, i.e. the UIP1869V MUST resides behind her main NAT/Firewall router. |

And? So put it there, what's your problem? If it's not working in that configuration, you're doing something wrong.
How about a little insight to what kind of NAT/Firewall you're using in the setup? |

to put the Vonage device in DMZ, you need to assign first a static ip to it (including subnet mask and default gateway).
check first the connections: from ethernet of modem to internet of router. from ethernet of router to WAN port of Vonage device.
before doing the DMZ, try first resetting your router. press and hold the the reset button for 10 seconds while power is on. reset also the Vonage device by 30 seconds. |

Please read my OP where I mentioned that I was trying to help a friend to put her UIP1869V behind her main NAT/Firewall router. If this were mine, I wouldn't have a problem to put replace my main router with this UIP1869V to start with.

She has a Linksys WRT54GS v3 NAT/Firewall router running DDWRT v24 beta firmware that has been running very story to provide WiFi Distributed Systems to other WiFi routers within her big mansion compound. Replacing her main NAT/Firewall router with this UIP1869V is definitely out of the question (as far as she is concerned). So, please don't ask me why. |
