I know someone on this forum somewhere posted about this in the recent past, but after using the search feature to no avail I still can't find it.

Does anyone know how to enable Vonage to send voicemail attachments so that a cell phone can access the sound file?

Like I said someone posted a website that purportedly does just that but I can't find it. Thanks!

if your cell phone can handle downloading attachments, you can use your regular email address and download it. It will take a while to download the attached wav file but it should work if you have the attachment capability. Most people don't b/c of the amount of time it would take to download it. But it's your choice and your money.

People with pda and phone capability or with blackberrys do this I believe.

With many new cell phones they have the capability of web surfing which would be another way to get an attachment.

You can get the voicemails transcribed into text which will appear in the main body (I think) of the voicemail notification. It will cost you a quarter per message, though.

What I do, is get a text message sent to my cell phone (without the sound file). Then call my Vonage voice mail number from my cell phone.

Thank you to all who've replied. Since I have no data plan for my cell phone, and I don't want to spend the 25 cents for each voicemail message transcribed, I guess I'll just have the voicemail notifications SMS'ed to me without the attachment and call my voicemail number.

If anyone reading this thread remembers what website was posted somewhere on this forum that will change the .wav to a sound file compatible with SMS, by all means let me know.

I have Vonage forward my voicemail to my Blackberry, but it can't play the WAV file. I am paying the 25cents for the transcription now until someone fixes the WAV on Blackberry problem. The Vonage transcription service works, but it isn't very good. It takes a good imagination to make sense out of Vonage's phenetic transcription.

Why not just receive the announcement without the attachment and then call your VM to get your messasges?

For giggles, and out of curiosity, I tried the transcription service. But the only option FOR the transcription service is also to attach the .wav recording. Since my cell phone can't (or doesn't currently) accept attachments in SMS messages, I haven't received my transcribed voicemail. I hope I didn't get charged, but even if I did, it was only 25 cents.

EUREKA! I found the website! It is:

http://www.magikinfo.com/vm2wm/default.htm

I signed up for the service and am awaiting my confirmation e-mail. It purports to work with SMS, so this is exactly what I need.

Just as a clarification. vm2wm.com does MMS (Multimedia Messaging) and not SMS since SMS only supports text.

It also supports conversion to WAV and WMA.
