Yes, thats the button you should depress for about 30 seconds. Resetting the router will set the router to the factory default settings.

Hi,
Thank you both for your responses. Alright, I tried the hard reset, held the button down for a good 30 seconds and saw the power light blink, hold steady, blink, hold steady....after that i rebooted everything, went to ipconfig/all and this is what i get:

Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 202.164.131.184
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.252.0
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : fe80::211:d8ff:fe43:2b96%4

Your default gateway "should be" pulling a 192.168.*.* address but it's not for some reason and to be honest with you, I do not know why. Unless someone else more knowledgeable comes along and can offer you some assistance, I would contact Linksys directly with the issue you're having with the router.

make sure first that you have the proper connections::from modem to the internet port of your router>>from the ethernet port of router to the internet of pap2.

make sure your pc is set to obtain an ip address and dns server automatically. hard reset your router and do the ipconfig with pc connected to one of the ethernet ports of your router. your pc should get a 192.168.x.x ip address and default gateway.

You can check for this in Windows XP by going to Start / Control Panel / Network and Internet Connections / Network Connections. Right-click on Local Area Connection and select Properties. On the General tab click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and click Properties. "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" should be selected.

the defaul gateway must not be 202.164.128.1 ..i think it should just be 192.168.15.1...cuz Vonage device doesn't have that kind of IPs..just reset your Vonage device..make sure it is ON and press and hold it for 30 sec..

Nobody seems to be addressing the issue that this internet service requires a login. Frstd_usr, how are you handling that? Is the WRT54G configured to handle the login?

if i can remember it right, the setup is like modem>>router (wrtp54g)>>vonage device and pc. cust can access internet.

the pc is getting an ip address which is not within the range of ip addresses that the router should give. this can mean two things:1. the ip address could come directly from the modem, hence the router is acting like a switch OR 2. the pc is set to static.

I agree, but I think the key to this is the fact that the service requires a log in. This suggests to me that the PC is set up to handle the log in and the router isn't. If, as you suggest, the router is just acting as a switch, then the PC is logging on to the internet, but the router can't handle the Vonage connection.

Hi,
Thanks for the responses...I have done as suggested and checked that the TCP/IP is set to obtain IP and DNS automatically and reset the router but i still get the default gateway as 202.164.128.1. I think the router at least WAS configured to handle the login because I had been using for about 2 years now with the same provider with no problems until one day I just didnt have a dial tone..also, i took both the router and adapter to a friend's where it worked perfectly fine albeit that was w/ a wireless modem and different provider...
the setup is modem to router and then to both pc and Vonage adapter....i have switched all the wires, removed and replaced them etc...any ideas of what i can do? thanx.
